Giovanni Trevisan or João Trevisan as he was known, opened the first grocery store in 1910 in a place called Ribeirão, District of Santa Maria/RS, and soon after, the first branch in Arroio do Só – Santa Maria/RS, next to the VFRGS tracks. As his sons reached the necessary age, the company João Trevisan & Filhos was developed, and thus in 1924 the branch was established in Cachoeira do Sul/RS, at Rua Júlio de Castilhos, 69, today the Bartz house, a strategic point because it was located next to the railroad.
In 1931, with the death of the founder, the company's name was changed to Vva. João Trevisan & Filhos. In 1938, the company's first rice mill was built in the Arroio do Só District of Santa Maria/RS, one of the pioneers of the time in the region. In 1941, in Cachoeira do Sul, taking advantage of the wheat sales in which the company operated, the wheat mill was built where the Tulipa and Donangela brand flours were produced. Later in 1956, exploring the potential of the municipality's rice production, the rice mill was installed in the same location as the wheat mill, where the company's head office is also located today at Av. Brasil 791.
In 1990, the rice complex, silos, mill, dryers, warehouses and packaging were transferred to the city's Industrial District at Rua Miguel Loreto Sobrinho, 661 to accommodate the increase in its production capacity. In recent years, Trevisan Alimentos has invested heavily in technology as well as in expanding its production capacity by redesigning a more modern and efficient industry that complies with food safety and quality standards.
